The publication proposes a solution of conducting control and regulation in the flow system, in which the flow meter
and actuator controlling the regulating ball valve have been incorrectly selected or incorrectly adjusted. On the basis
of the performed industrial measurements and the obtained flow characteristics, the reason for the creation of an
atypical data set was indicated and a general solution was proposed. After the tests, it was found that reducing the
time constant of the flowmeter transducer improves the measuring quality of the device (a significant reduction of the
difference between the open and close waveforms for the flow characteristic is obtained). It seems advisable to use
a “fast” actuator, preferably a variable speed actuator, in addition to the correct value of the time constant of the
flowmeter converter. The solution to the problems of control and regulation with the wrong selection of the flow meter
and actuator is the determination of the so-called programme function and then putting it into the controller or
computer system. Control in the automation system is initially carried out according to the programme function, and
then according to the PID regulation.
