The article concerns the process of improving the safety and reliability of 18K370 steam turbines in the Opole Power
Plant since the occurrence of the first failure in 2010 [1], up to the installation of a monitoring system on-line [2].
The way the block works and the ability to analyse the control stage as a critical node in the design of the turbine has been presented. The analysis took into account the nature of the flow in different operating regimes of the CFD
approach (Computational Fluid Dynamic) and strength analysis in CSD (Computational Solid Dynamic). Also, the way of management of individual lifecycle of elements has been briefly described [2,3]. The action could be considered as satisfactory and improve the safety of 18K370 operating steam turbines.
