Bacteria of the Legionella genus are commonly found in many water distribution systems. The most important sanitary problems caused by these microbes are related to colonizing domestic hot water systems. Regarding the
risk assessment of Legionella occurrence in water reservoirs, there is a significant role of environmental factors such
as the presence of biofilm, water stagnation, low concentration of disinfectant and above all, the water temperature in the range of 20°C to 40°C. The article presents a method of assessing the occurrence of Legionella contamination at the outlet and whole hot water system. The basis of this study is the comparison and analysis of test results of water samples collected by the preflush and postflush method.
