Dynamics of air flow through the staircase smoke vent in a medium-high building

The article presents the results of measuring the ventilation air flow in the staircase of the LabFactor medium-high
building of the Lodz University of Technology under various weather conditions. Measurements were carried out while
the external door and the smoke damper were opened. During the research external and internal air temperature and
the air flow velocity through the smoke damper was measured. Based on the obtained measurement results, graphs of
the variability of air flows flowing through the smoke damper were prepared. A relationship between velocity and
direction of the flow through the damper and temperature differences between the staircase space and the
surroundings was demonstrated.
