This paper presents results of an analysis of costs of drilling a geothermal well in Poland. The analysis was made on the basis of bid prices submitted in tenders aimed at selecting contractors for individual geothermal wells. Two tenders were announced for drilling a geothermal well. One was for geological services and the other for drilling the well. The cost of drilling a geothermal well depends mainly on its depth and varies on average from PLN 6,649.83 to PLN 20,406.00 net per metre of depth. It is noteworthy that the cost of drilling a well to a depth of 1,500 metres is on average PLN 8,255.76 per metre. Then the cost decreases as the depth increases to reach PLN 6,649.83 per metre at a depth of 2,500 m. Subsequently, as the depth of drilling increases, the cost of drilling a well increases to reach a value of PLN 20,406.00/m at a depth of 7,000 m.
